In this strange new era, a man named Gintoki Sakata with the heart of a samurai, and the odd company he keeps, have found a way to stay self-employed. They take on odd jobs, everything from finding lost kittens to saving the world. But the jobs rarely go as planned and never pay enough to cover their pain—or their rent.

Crunchyrolladded episodes 226-278 of the Gintama anime with an English dub on Wednesday. An additional 12 episodes will be added every Wednesday in February.

Crunchyrollannounced in July that it would dub and release anime, including Gintama, on Blu-ray Disc on DVD. Funimation and Crunchyrollannounced in September that Funimation will handle Crunchyroll's home video distribution, though the companies have not confirmed whether or not Funimation will release Gintama.

Episode

The first anime series premiered in 2006 and continued (with several extended hiatuses) until 2013. The series Crunchyroll is premiering dubbed began in April 2015 and ran for 51 episodes. Crunchyrollstreamed the series with English subtitles as it aired in Japan.

A new Gintama anime premiered in January, and Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs. The manga also inspired two anime films, including the 'final' Gekijōban Gintama Kanketsu-hen: Yorozuya yo Eien Narefilm that opened in 2013, andvarious OVAs and event anime. a live-action film is slated to open in July.

Hideaki Sorachi began the manga in 2004 and it entered its final arc in July. Viz Media published the first 23 volumes in English.

Gintama (銀魂) is a Japanese jidaigekiaction comedy film written and directed by Yūichi Fukuda [ja], starring Shun Oguri and based on the manga and anime series of the same name written and illustrated by Hideaki Sorachi.[1][2] It was released on July 14, 2017 in Japan by Warner Bros. Pictures.[3]

Plot[edit]

Yorozuya receives two similar and ultimately connected jobs: Elizabeth needs Odd Jobs to find Katsura, and a swordsmith needs the crew to find a dangerous sword named Benizakura. There is more to both requests than Gintoki and his friends thought.

Principal photography took place in July, August and early September 2016.[2] On the New Year's Day 2017, they celebrated it with a little song and dance routine by the main casts of the film.[5] Encore Films announced on January 3, 2017 it will release the film alongside Tokyo Ghoul in Singapore and Indonesia in mid-2017.[6]

Box office[edit]

The film grossed ¥3.9 billion ($34.6 million) in Japan, making it the third highest-grossing domestic film of 2017.[7] Overseas, the film grossed CN¥81.358 million[8] ($12.3 million) in China, HK$2.19 million ($282,135) in Hong Kong,[9] $45,128 in Thailand,[10] and $228,569 in South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.[11] This adds up to a total box office gross of $47,455,832 in the Asia-Pacific region.

A drama was released as extra material, adapting 'The Okita Mitsuba Arc' from the manga and anime, with many of the original cast from the film, including Shun Oguri and most of The Shinsengumi live action portrayals.

Sequel[edit]

A sequel, Gintama 2: The Law is Surely There to be Broken (銀魂2 掟は破るためにこそある, Gintama 2: Okite wa Yaburu Tame ni Koso Aru) was released on August 17, 2018. Most of the actors from the first movie played the same role in the sequel.[12][13] New cast members included Haruma Miura as Kamotaro Ito, Masataka Kubota as Bansai Kawakami and Midoriko Kimura as Otose.[14]
